Set up multi-factor sign-in on your phone

Multi-factor sign-in asks for two things: your password, and your phone. Even if someone learns your password, they cannot sign in without your phone. Setup takes about five minutes. Have your phone and a computer nearby.

Set it up

1. On your phone, install Microsoft Authenticator from the App Store or Google Play.
2. On your computer, go to aka.ms/mysecurityinfo and sign in with your work email.
3. Select Add sign-in method, choose Authenticator app, then select Add.
4. On your phone, open the app, choose to add a work or school account, and scan the code shown on your computer screen.
5. Approve the test sign-in that appears on your phone. If the app asks for a number, type the number shown on your computer.

Before you replace or reset your phone

Tell us before you trade in, reset or replace your phone. The app for your work account does not move to a new phone on its own, so we will help you set it up again and you will not get locked out.
