Send sensitive information safely
Social Security numbers, card numbers and other private details need more care than a normal email.
Regular email is like a postcard. It can be forwarded, copied and read on the way. Do not send Social Security numbers, payment card numbers, bank details, passwords or health information by regular email or text.
Safer ways
- Say it by phone to a person you know is the right one.
- Share a OneDrive link with a specific person, and give them any password by phone, not in the same message.
- Use the other company's own secure portal if they have one.
