A pop-up says your computer is infected
Loud warnings with a phone number are a scam. Here is how to close them.
Some websites show a full screen warning with a siren sound and a phone number. It looks scary, but it is fake. Microsoft does not put phone numbers in browser warnings.
- Do not call the number, and do not click anything in the message.
- Close the browser. If it will not close, press Ctrl + Shift + Esc, select the browser and choose End task.
- Open the browser again. If it offers to restore your tabs, choose no.
- If you already called the number or let someone connect, call or text us at (231) 884-7146 right away.

Never let a stranger control your computer, and never pay anyone with gift cards.
