Scam texts and QR codes

Scammers send texts about a missed delivery, an unpaid toll or a problem with your bank. The link leads to a fake page that steals your details. QR codes can do the same, because you cannot see where they lead until you scan them.

• Do not tap links in texts you did not expect.
• Do not reply, even to say stop.
• For a delivery or your bank, open the company's own app or type its address yourself.
• Be careful with QR codes on flyers, stickers or emails. Check the web address your phone shows before you open it.
• Never enter a sign-in code that arrives by text unless you just asked for it.
• You can report a scam text by forwarding it to 7726 in the United States.
