Suspicious phone calls

Scam callers use pressure and fear. They may know your name. Caller ID can be faked, so a familiar number proves nothing.

Warning signs

• They say your account is in danger, or that you owe money right now.
• They ask for a password, a sign-in code or remote access.
• They want payment by gift card, wire transfer or cryptocurrency.
• They tell you to keep the call secret.

What to do

1. Hang up. You do not owe a stranger politeness.
2. Look up the real number yourself, on a card, a bill or the company's website, and call that.
3. Tell us if the caller mentioned your business or asked about your computers.
