Blue screen or black screen error
What to note down and what to do when Windows shows an error screen.
Windows shows this screen when it hits a problem it cannot recover from. It restarts itself, and often works fine afterward.
- Take a photo of the screen with your phone if you can. Note the words near the bottom, called the stop code.
- Let the computer restart. Do not turn it off while it shows a percentage.
- Save your work once it is back.
- If it happens again, stop using the computer for anything important and tell us.
Good to know
Send us the photo, the stop code, and what you were doing just before it happened. That usually points us to the cause.
