The computer asks for a BitLocker recovery key
Why it happens, and why you should call us instead of guessing.
BitLocker protects the data on your computer if it is lost or stolen. Sometimes it asks for a recovery key after an update, a hardware change or an unexpected restart.
- Do not guess or keep typing. Stop and leave the screen as it is.
- Take a photo of the screen. The Key ID shown on it helps us find the right key.
- Call or text us at (231) 884-7146 with the Key ID.
- We will help you find the recovery key. Type it in carefully.
Careful
Do not try to reset or reinstall Windows. That erases the files on the computer.
Good to know
Never save or write the recovery key on the same computer. If you already have a copy, keep it somewhere safe.
