Clear a paper jam
Remove stuck paper without damaging the printer.
- Turn the printer off, and unplug it if you can.
- Open the doors or trays where the printer's display shows the jam.
- Pull the paper out slowly, in the direction it normally moves. Pulling gently avoids tearing it.
- Check for small torn pieces left behind.
- Close everything, turn the printer on and try again.
Careful
Never use tools or force. Some parts inside are hot right after printing.
Good to know
Frequent jams mean damp, wrinkled or wrong paper, or an overfilled tray. Fan the sheets before you load them.
